Simple Sentence

A simple sentence contains one independent clause.

What’s an “independent clause”? It’s one subject followed by one verb or verb phrase. It expresses a single idea.

Examples of simple sentences:
◾I‘m happy.
◾Robert doesn’t eat meat.
◾My brother and I went to the mall last night.
◾This new laptop computer has already crashed twice.

پیش نوشت: نقش داروها در سیستم‌های سلامت روز به روز در حال افزایش است. زنجیره تأمین دارو بخشی از سیستم سلامت است که اگر به درستی به آن توجه نشود بعید است مفهوم سلامت در آن جامعه رشد قابل توجهی را تجربه کند. از این پس، موضوعات مرتبط با زنجیره تأمین دارو را در سلسله مطالبی که منتشر خواهد شد مورد بحث قرار خواهیم داد. در این سلسله مطالب می‌کوشیم با مفهوم زنجیره تأمین دارو و چالش‌های آن به‌خصوص از دید مهندسی صنایع بیشتر آشنا شویم. انتظار می‌رود که خوانندگان این سلسله مطالب دید جامعی نسبت به سیستم‌های دارویی و علی‌الخصوص زنجیره تأمین دارو پیدا کنند. همچنین امید است مطالب ارائه شده برای کسانی که صرفاً به‌عنوان یک موضوع تحقیقاتی به این بحث توجه دارند تا کسانی که در کسب‌وکار با آن سروکار دارند، مفید واقع شود.

What is a complete sentence?

Sentences provide us with the framework for the clear written expression of our ideas. The aim in writing is always to write in complete sentences which are correctly punctuated. Sentences always begin with a capital letter and end in either a full stop, exclamation or question mark. A complete sentence always contains a verb, expresses a complete idea and makes sense standing alone.

Prepositions are short words (on, in, to) that usually stand in front of nouns (sometimes also in front of gerund verbs). Even advanced learners of English find prepositions difficult, as a 1:1 translation is usually not possible. One preposition in your native language might have several translations depending on the situation. 

Active-Passive Voices

What Is Active Voice?

An author may write a sentence in one of two "voices"—active or passive. The active voice emphasizes the performer (or agent) of the action:

Wind disperses plant seeds.

Smith et al. investigated the relationship.

We have analyzed the results.

The active voice is direct (performer–verb–receiver), vigorous, clear, and concise. The reader knows who is responsible for the action.
